Surprise...

...is what I felt on Thursday. Krishna and I were at the airport, allegedly to pick up one of his friends' who is in the film business. He was going to be working behind the scenes for a football game. So it seemed.

To my pleasant surprise, one of my closet friends (Lila) and her boyfriend (Yves) showed up. Krishna had plotted against me once again, but for the good. Apparently, Yves' friend was supposed to fly to Mexico with him but he bailed, so he thought it would be a great idea to come out here for a visit. So, his friends' loss, my awesome gain.

It was so nice to see them, since i hadn't seen her before she had left Victoria and moved back to Edmonton. We kind of switched places and there was only about two months where we were both in BC(me=Van, her=Vic). But we still hadn't gotten to see each other and Krishna and I had only met Yves once and given him the Best Friend Approval. So we hung out, walked around, went to restaurants, basically had fun. The weather wasn't the greatest, but that wasn't a problem.

As much as I love to have visitors, it is nice to have the place to myself every so often. Krishna is on set tonight, so I'm just listening to the cars swish by on the wet pavement of Davie Street. It's very relaxing. I'm probably going to have a snack then go to bed and read for a bit. Enjoy the rain everyone, and I don't say that sarcastically.

Am I Too Old For A Field Trip?

Colour Theory class tonight is a field trip to a classmates house in Coquitlam, so we can do an "on site colour consultation". Should be interesting. I'm dreading getting back last weeks assignment, as I didn't do well on the first one. I'm racking my brain to write up a paragraph for the third one(due tonight), but coming up with not much at all. I'm starting to think I have no clue what I'm doing, and that I probably shouldn't be doing this as a career. I'm usually one to give good advice to people(or maybe I just harp on my parents too much about changing stuff in their house), but I simply can't visualize these imaginary rooms that I'm picking colour for. It's quite difficult decorating with little paper squares with colour on them. I'm never sure if I'm even picking the right colour. Continuously doubting myself and second guessing are things I do naturally, I just didn't want to do them here. I need to do well, and I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong.

My boyfriend's back(and I'm happy about it)

I think my gaps between posts are getting bigger again. Krishna came home on Monday and I suppose I've been busy catching up on my snuggles. There's always some readjustment the first week he's home, but I think we're past that now. Well, until our next "regularly scheduled" argument. You know, the normal stuff. He's over at Ian's' right now watching the "Battle of Alberta" hockey game between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers.

I've taken a step back on the job hunt. I need some time to spend with my man so we can figure things out together. We're both in this together, and we kind of have this crazy idea of spending our lives together and getting married and having a house---wait, that's not crazy. That's awesome. I just need to establish a career and become financially stable, so we can make the step forward in our relationship. Okay, didn't think I'd be talking about the big stuff when I started writing this.

I'm phoning the Moore again on Monday because the manager wasn't working when I called on Wednesday. I'm hoping all this waiting will pay off and I can learn all about colour. I'm starting to ponder about Professional Organizing and thinking I may go down that road as well. I've always been one to meddle with others clutter, and if I can start this as a job, maybe that's a good thing. This is just one idea I'm playing around with, and doing some research on.

But the So You Think You Can Dance Canada finale is on tonight, so I'm going to watch that. Between you and me, I'm rooting for Jayme-Rae. Chao!

More ways to make money

For me anyway. Sorry if you clicked on this thinking I had actual tips or something. Believe me, if I knew those tips, I doubt I'd be unemployed right now. But I digress.

I've signed up with an art site called Imagekind which is connected to Flickr, of which I have an account and have posted many of my pictures. With this site, I am able to upload my photos and sell them. The good thing is, the company does all the work(framing, mailing the pictures, etc.) and I would get some kind of commission. When I originally found it, I suggested my father get on it(he's been doing photography as a hobby since way before I was born and he's really good), but I think he's been too busy with the garage and other things. Silly full-time jobs really get in the way, don't they? Just kidding. Sort of. Well, if ever you feel the need to buy one of my photos, you can click on this link and go visit my profile.

I've also been brought the idea of putting up an aStore, which means I would put up a selection of books that I've read or want to read. If you also want to buy that book, you could just click on the link from my "store" and I get a referral fee. So that may be another addition to my blog in the future. Plus, it's a good way to make some extra cash. If I'm going to make money, it might as well be a bit fun, right? Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm happy because my man is coming back tomorrow night! It's been three weeks, but it's seemed like forever.

Colin & Justin

Went to the Home + Interior Design show this afternoon with Zubin. We were walking to BC Place and thankfully the rain stopped right before we were leaving my apartment. When we got there, I wasn't really in the best mood. The rain had completely drained me, I was tired and nothing was really impressing me in the booths. I passed by Wendy Russell's booth, but she wasn't there. I haven't been lucky enough to catch more than one episode of "She's Crafty", but the one I saw was pretty good. We walked around for a little while more, than heard a familiar Scottish accent. Colin and Justin(of Home Heist fame, among other things) were doing a show(not sure what else to call it) on the stage near the back. Or the front, I'm never really sure with huge places like that. So we walked towards it and stood at the back of the crowd.

It was nice to watch, they showed a few befores and afters, told a couple stories, and were just generally funny. After that was done, we went back to Wendy's booth, and I got to meet her and chat for a minute. Apparently, she's also done home staging, professional organizing, wardrobe therapy and interior styling. Oh, and she acts. This woman is more than crafty, she's amazing!

I'll end this post with the beautiful rainbow I saw out my window this afternoon after the rain had stopped.

Positive Job News

I called Benjamin Moore again today to check in and see what was going on with the job. I really like how forward the manager is. Again, he said I was at the top of their list, but he was worried that he wouldn't have enough hours to give me to start. More like 1 or 2 shifts a week instead of 3 or 4. I told him I would take anything because this is the path I want to be on, and this job would be a very good step towards that. The other employees seemed very friendly when I was at the interview and the mood was nice and relaxed. I like that. I asked him if I could call him again next week to check how things are doing, and he said definitely, but of course if he calls me first it's all good. (My paraphrasing) Moore is opening two new stores, so they're still shifting people around, but hopefully this will all be figured out reasonably soon. I'm positive about all this, but of course, I'm still looking around for other things. I know better than to wait on anything, no matter how dependable it is. It's just more responsible on my parents. What can I say? My parents raised me right.

Visiting Friends

Spent the afternoon at the Vancouver Aquarium today. My friend Karen is moving here in November, so she's apartment hunting. She found a room in a house, but it's a pretty sweet deal. Her mom had also come along, so they wanted to do something a bit touristy. They picked me up in their rental car, and we met Min at the aquarium. I got some pretty good pictures, I think, I haven't gotten a chance to load them onto my computer. If I have any good ones, I might put a couple up on here.

UPDATE: Here are a couple pictures. The jellyfish were my favourite animal to photograph.
